Title saying "Learning Content Accessibility Spotlight".

Are you an L&D professional who wants to design training to meet a wider range of accessibility needs? Or perhaps you want practical tips to apply accessibility guidelines?

Or are you an aspiring Instructional Designer who just wants to get started with the basics of accessibility in learning content design?

We know the feeling and we're still trying to navigate the path to accessibility.

That's why we came up with the Learning Content Accessibility (or LCA for short) Spotlights.

What is the LCA Spotlight?

The LCA Spotlight is a non-profit, voluntary initiative with a mission to make accessibility more accessible for new or experienced learning content designers.

We want to help beginners learn about accessibility without being overwhelmed by the number of resources out there (let's be honest, mainly created for web developers) and we want to invite them as well as experienced L&D professionals to join a conversation about accessibility and share practical tips.

Our aim is to bring an accessibility standard, topic, question, or even actual project to the spotlight for 2 weeks so that we can all learn from each other and raise awareness about accessibility in learning design.

Note that the LCA Spotlight is NOT a group of accessibility professionals to seek advice from. We are accessibility enthusiasts who want to help people get unstuck with accessibility and utilise social learning for everybody's, as much as our, benefit.

How does it work?

On the first and third Tuesday of each month, we put a new accessibility topic in the spotlight.

If you're new to accessibility or want to find out more about the topic, we share links and resources to help you get started.

If you are already familiar with the topic, we invite you to join the conversation on our LinkedIn group by sharing your thoughts and experiences or asking and answering questions.

With the power of social learning and by chunking the content down into bi-weekly topics, our hope is that we can all learn more about learning content accessibility, or LCA as we shorten it.

How do I take part?

First, make sure that you join our LinkedIn group (called Learning Content Accessibility Spotlight) because that's where we keep the conversation going. It's also where we share the posts.

Then, watch out for the spotlights (remember, they're posted every first and third Tuesday of each month).

When the spotlights are released, check out the shared resources or join the conversation in the LinkedIn group using the #LCASpotlight hashtag with the correct spotlight number.

If you want to make sure that you don't miss the spotlights, sign up for the LCA Spotlight newsletter here: (or follow this link for a more accessible subscription form)

If you would like to get involved, we welcome you to submit projects you need help with to be one of the spotlights or suggest topic ideas. Or you can get involved supporting the community.

Note that the LCA Spotlights are released on an (almost) bi-weekly basis, but you can always check out the past spotlights on this website and check out the discussions by using the right hashtag in the LinkedIn group.
